I think I’m a better writer than an artist. But being “better” is probably a function of practice more than anything. I read all the time. I’m looking at words, at language, at ideas a lot. When I write I have a clear idea of how I want to go from A to B.

I don’t remember having a lot of structure in my early years. My parents believed in letting us decide for ourselves on many issues. So much so that I wasn’t baptized till I was 13, at my own choice.
